I think of all the things we used to know how to do, like sew and fix things that required a toolbox to master. In so many cases, you could skip a step or improvise and do a decent job that would get you through and still make something work. But with technology, if there is one step you can’t do, all is lost. There’s often no workaround. In that way, it can be a bleak and austere experience.
